14 Then answered Amos, and said to Amaziah, I was no prophet, neither was I a prophet’s son; but I was an herdman, and a gatherer of sycomore fruit: 15 And the LORD took me as I followed the flock, and the LORD said unto me, Go, prophesy unto my people Israel. Amos 7:14-15

Isn’t it crazy how that throughout the Bible God uses all types of people. I think most of us can understand why God would use Saul or Moses. Saul was a mighty man that was much bigger and stronger than anyone else. Moses had his faults of not being able to speak well, but he was after all a prince of Eygpt. But why in the world would God use a common farmer? I think that this shows us that it is not about the man but that it is all about God. God makes the man and not the other way around. It might be easy for me to look at somebody and think that God could never use them. They don’t have the right characteristics. They don’t have the right training. It is easy to look at myself and think the same thing. However, all of that is a total lie. God can use anybody as long as they are willing to believe and obey Him.
