There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil. Job 1:1
Job had bragging rights! He had a name that he lived of God. Everyone knew it. Later in the chapter we are going to see that God mentions Job to the Devil. He tells Satan to check out Job. He basically says, “There is nobody else on earth that is more righteous than Job.” He is bragging that Job loved righteousness and hated evil. This is the kind of reputation I want to have! It is easy to try to have a reputation that looks good in the eyes of the world. We want are friends to say, “Kason is a fun guy to have around. He is really smart. Or, he is great at sports.” We want these bragging rights! If this is the reputation that we want, then we will spend our life trying to get it. We will spend all of our time trying to live for our reputation. However, way more than any of those things, I want my reputation to be that I love God and live for Him because He has died for me and given me a new life! I want the approval of God bragging rights!
Good stuff!
