And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the LORD your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil. Joel 2:13
It is easy to tell God that I am sorry for what I have done. It may even be easy for some people to cry and become very emotional about what we have done wrong. However, God doesn’t want emotions, He wants a change of heart. God is telling the Jews that he wants them to repent. He doesn’t just want them to do it outwardly though. He wants it to be from their heart. It may have been easy for them to tear their clothes and say that they are sorry. It may be easy for us to act emotional about mistakes we have made. The big question is though are we going to be willing to change what we did and obey God? Are we going to change our heart?
