Remember, I beseech thee, the word that thou commandedst thy servant Moses, saying, If ye transgress, I will scatter you abroad among the nations: 9 But if ye turn unto me, and keep my commandments, and do them; though there were of you cast out unto the uttermost part of the heaven, yet will I gather them from thence, and will bring them unto the place that I have chosen to set my name there. Nehemiah 1:8-9
When Nehemiah goes to pray he does something that unfortunately I often miss. He does not just go to God with all of his request and needs. He comes to God and ask Him to answer based on something that God had promised the Israelites. He asks based on what God has already said in His Word. I need to do the same! I should start with the Word and ask God to answer based off of that. My prayers should not just be all about my needs and what I want.
