Ask Before you Act

1 Chronicles 14:10 And David inquired of God, saying, Shall I go up against the Philistines? and wilt thou deliver them into mine hand? And the Lord said unto him, Go up; for I will deliver them into thine hand.11[2]

David asks before he acts. This is a big deal! This means that BEFORE David goes to fight he asks God if he should do it. This gives us an insight into David’s heart. We can see here that his number one motive for going into battle is to please God. He isn’t very concerned with what his captains say. He isn’t relying on his battle plans. He is relying on God. He just somehow believes that by listening and obeying God he will get victory. This verse is a challenge to me because many time I don’t want to listen to God. I think that my plans will work. I will take another man’s advice but I won’t ask God. I need to ask before I act.
