Gird up now thy loins like a man; For I will demand of thee, and answer thou me.Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? Declare, if thou hast understanding. Job 38:3-4

Job has just gone through some crazy troubles. His riches have been destroyed. His children have been killed. His wife has basically turned against him. He has an awful disease that gives him boils and scabs all over his body. He is in extreme pain and he begins to ask, “Why God?”. His friends tell him that he must have sinned. They think that God must be punishing him for a wrong act or a secret sin. However, we are going to see here that God is going to speak directly to Job tell him that it is not his job to figure out God. God asks, “Were you there when I made the world? Do you think that you can throw  billions of stars across the universe? Can you create all the animals in the world? Were you there when I spoke and made all these things? I think the application for me today would be that there are times when I don’t understand everything that is happening in my life and that is OK. God is the one that made everything. He is the one that upholds the world! I can trust Him. My job is not to know and understand everything. I still should trust that he is a good God and He wants the best for me.
