Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and fast ye for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day: I also and my maidens will fast likewise; and so will I go in unto the king, which is not according to the law: and if I perish, I perish.  Esther 4:17

Here we see an example of a woman who did what she knew that she was supposed to do even though there was good chance that she might be killed. She didn’t try to push the responsibility onto someone else but she took it on herself. She didn’t make excuses but just did what she knew that she needed to do. Esther provides a great example of what we should do when we are faced with problems. She prayed, fasted, and asked God but she didn’t sit around with her hands folded. She got up and did what needed to be done. God uses her to spare a nation! I think the same is true for us. We need to pray but there are also times when we need to act. We need to be willing to step out and do something.
