Get the Job Done!

1 Chronicles 28:10

10 Take heed now; for the Lord hath chosen thee to build an house for the sanctuary: be strong, and do it.[1]

Solomon had a job to do. David left him with materials and supplies but he had to get on it.

God appointed Solomon to build the temple, but Solomon had to go out and get it done. I think this is a good reminder to me. I have a job to do! God has appointed me to take the Gospel to the whole world. I must realize this. Sometimes I may think why can’t I just live like everyone else. Why do I need to put this much time and effort into ministry? I think I have got to realize this is not necessarily a choice but a responsibility

David prepares
God had told David that he could not build Him a temple, but David still prepared material for it. He still wanted to do as much as possible to see God’s work happen. He took time and effort to get materials prepared  for the building of God’s house. This reminds me of my own job installing cabinets. Many times when I show up at a house the painters or the drywall guys are still not done with their work. I have two options. One, I can sit in the truck  and say, ” I can’t install those cabinets right now so I am just going to sit on the truck and eat lunch.” Or, I can go into the house unpack everything and get all the tools set up. If I do this, it will cut an hour off of my work time when I am able to go into the house to put in the cabinets. David was doing the same thing. He was getting ready for the work of building the temple. He could have been lazy and rested on all the victories that he had already accomplished, but no he decided to press on. He was going all out for God. He wasn’t going to stop halfway
